Saudi forces closes Socotra's airport and lay off workers after a riot by the STC militia

Saudi forces on Socotra island closed the governorate's only airport early this morning, and laid off employees and workers, after riots by the Transitional Council militia supported by the United Arab Emirates that controls the island.

Local sources reported to "Almawqea Post" correspondent that members of the Transitional Militia had gathered in front of the airport to demand benefits from the Saudi forces called "gratuity", which are sums of money that these forces spend from time to time to the elements loyal to it.

The sources pointed out that the militia members gathered in front of the gate of the Saudi forces' camp in Muree, forcing the Saudi forces to close the airport and lay off workers.

According to the sources, the riots and escalation came by the STC militia, instigated by the UAE delegates in Socotra.

There are forces in Socotra affiliated with Saudi Arabia and the Emirates, and are based at the island's airport and vital areas as their headquarters
